Aug 18, 2023Conveyor Belt Monitoring Technology Yokohama

Yokohama Rubber developed a sensing technology that monitors conveyor belts and detects abnormalities in real time. The company said it plans to launch a solutions service by 2027, using this real-time conveyor belt monitoring technology to optimize management.
From February 2022 to December 2024, Yokohama Rubber conducted field trials to confirm the system’s capabilities. The system integrates RFID tags with Yokohama conveyor belts, detecting changes in wear, damage, and temperature that standard inspections often miss.
The system transmits real-time data to Yokohama’s data center, enabling users to identify risks early. Yokohama specialists analyze this data and provide recommendations to enhance conveyor belt system management. Yokohama Rubber has filed 13 patents for this technology and its operating system.
Yokohama Rubber’s service helps users detect risks early, prevent accidents, and improve safety, the manufacturer said. By reducing manual inspections, the service addresses labor shortages and lowers costs. Yokohama specialists customize recommendations for inspection schedules, replacement cycles, and product specifications based on individual needs.
This real-time conveyor belt monitoring service enhances efficiency, extends product lifespan, and reduces environmental impact. The service lowers CO2 emissions and minimizes material use.
